Field Notes & Observation
Come along for a moment to northern Sweden and let the sound of the wind in the trees by Lake Torrbergstjärn calm your mind. This is a video for those who prefer genuine nature experiences and soundscapes. No AI and no editing tricks (no loops, cuts, etc.) have been used to “enhance” the content.
Recording long videos here is always a little risky, though; the lake is a very popular fishing spot, and you never know when someone might show up with fishing rods and rattling tackle boxes.
This was an overcast day (as you can see!). The weather forecast said it was going to rain, which was exactly what I had hoped for. The camera and microphones are placed inside a small wind shelter with a fire pit, overlooking the lake. I waited quite a while for the rain to get going, but only a few drops came, so instead I let this video focus on the sound of the wind in the trees. From time to time you may hear the squeaking of the wooden planks in the shelter.
Side note: I visited Torrbergstjärn a few months earlier, during the summer, hoping to capture the sound of the black-throated loon, which is often heard across the lake. That time it was completely silent — not a sound could be heard — so that video will never see the light of day, but I decided to return. It’s an incredible place! Recording long videos here is always a little risky, though; the lake is a very popular fishing spot, and you never know when someone might show up with fishing rods and rattling tackle boxes.
